Our Award Winning Home

Rick Walters Homes has been building in Hervey Bay since 1990, slowly and steadily earning a reputation as a standout in the Australian building industry.

After joining the Housing Industry Association (HIA) in 1995, Rick began entering homes and renovations in the annual building awards and this year was awarded the coveted HIA Wide Bay Home of the Year.

The reputable company won their first award in 1996, shortly after joining HIA, and went on to win numerous others over the years, including Customer Care Builder in 2001 for Queensland, with 24 various awards throughout their time in Hervey Bay. This year the same home that took out the coveted Wide Bay Home of the Year also won Best Bathroom and Best Kitchen.

Rick thanked owners Rob and Joanne for choosing him to build their beautiful home.

“I feel it is an eye catcher that will be a landmark for Hervey Bay for a very long period of time,” he said.

“Rob and Joanne were both a pleasure to work with, especially Rob who would often come forward with challenging ideas. Rob, like myself struggles with the word ‘can’t’, so there were times when his wife Joanne, a financial broker for QPF Finance Group, and I would spend quite a bit of time explaining why we couldn’t do certain tasks on Rob’s wish list. With the help of suppliers and subcontractors we found solutions and believe we have come away with a home of distinction.”
